The National Center for Youth Law is seeking to sponsor an applicant for a Soros Justice Fellowship. Applications for Soros Justice Fellowships are due on September 15, 2008. If you are interested in being sponsored by NCYL for a Soros Justice Fellowship you should apply to NCYL by August 1, 2008.
Founded in 1970, the National Center for Youth Law in a non-profit organization whose mission is to use the law to improve the lives of children and adolescents affected by poverty.
NCYL focuses its work in four areas:
• Safety and protection of abused and neglected children
• Health and mental health care
• Juvenile Justice
• Education
NCYL provides assistance to other child advocates nationwide, conducts trainings, engages in legislative and administrative advocacy, publishes a legal journal, and litigates cases intended to benefit large numbers of poor children.
NCYL is interested in applicants with a demonstrated commitment to child advocacy and juvenile justice. In particular, candidates for sponsorship should have a keen interest in advocacy for poor and vulnerable children.
If you are interested in applying Soros Justice Fellowship with NCYL, please submit the following to Frankie Guzman by August 1, 2008:
· letter expressing your interest, relevant experience, and possible project ideas;
· resume;
· three references;
· writing sample
Please note that it is not essential that you have a specific fellowship project planned. We will work with fellowship candidates to develop appropriate project ideas.
