Jesse Hahnel is an attorney and Director of NCYL's Foster Youth Education Initiative, focusing on improving the educational outcomes of foster youth. Jesse represents individual foster youth in educational proceedings, works to improve the systems serving children in foster care, and leads NCYL’s new Foster Youth Education Initiative. Before becoming an education attorney, Jesse was a public school teacher in Washington DC and New York City and served as Senior Foundation Analyst at the KIPP Foundation. Jesse is a graduate of Stanford Law School who clerked at NCYL in summer 2007.
