Sara Madge joined NCYL in September 2010 as a deferred associate from Ropes & Gray LLP. While at NCYL, she is working to ensure access to mental health care for foster children and for those in the juvenile justice system. She is also working on issues related to adolescent health care, particularly on consent and confidentiality laws. Sara earned her B.A. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 2003 and her J.D Cum Laude from Harvard Law School in 2010. Prior to law school, she spent a year as a post-baccalaureate student at UCLA studying Roman art and archaeology. During law school, Sara was a Senior Technical Editor on the Harvard Law and Policy Review and was on the board of the school’s chapter of the American Constitution Society. She also interned at the National Network for Youth, lobbying on behalf of runaway and homeless youth.
