Ensuring that Foster Youth Have Equal Access to Extracurricular Activities: A Panel Discussion of Dalton Dyer v. California Interscholastic Federation

The panel will focus on current law regarding foster youth access to school sports and other extracurricular activities.  Through a panel consisting of Dalton, his legal team, and Placer County Foster Youth Services, the session will explore the approach leading to Dalton’s success, the impact of the court decision, and strategies for ensuring foster youth have equal access to extracurricular activities.

In this workshop, participants will learn about www.TeachingFosterYouth.org, an online teacher resource being developed by NCYL as part of the Ready to Succeed Initiative.  Participants will see mock pages of the site. Then, through discussion and brainstorming, participants will contribute to the actual development of the website.
