Allison Crapo and her husband, Jake Bassett, are the proud parents of daughter Claire Crapo Bassett. Claire was born on July 15 at 8:19 p.m. Both mom and baby are doing well. Sadly, Allison will be leaving NCYL, where she spent 2 years working on children’s mental health issues. Allison joined NCYL in April 2008 as a volunteer attorney. In December 2008, she received the Ralph Abascal Fellowship through UC Hastings College of Law, which funded her work at NCYL for one year. When her fellowship ended in early 2010, Allison stayed on as a part-time attorney. Allison was part of NCYL’s Santa Clara Juvenile Mental Health Court team, acting as a civil advocate and collaborator in promoting access to mental health services. All the best, Allison! We will miss you!

NCYL Senior Attorney Bill Grimm and wife, Sherianne, are grandparents! Their son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Stephanie, had a baby boy, Andrew Lee Grimm, on June 12. Bill is obviously thrilled, but complained, “I’m too young to be a grandfather!”

NCYL Skadden Fellow Jesse Hahnel and wife, Carrie, have announced the birth of daughter Eleanor Daphne Hahnel, who was born at 10:23 a.m. August 7, weighing 7 pounds and measuring 20 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well!

Legal Secretary Dainellee Stoll has left NCYL after 10 years to devote more time to raising her son, Neal, 4. A former classroom teacher both in her native Philippines and in San Francisco, Dain wanted to be more involved in Neal’s education – so much so that she has decided to start a preschool out of her Pleasanton home. “I wanted to teach Neal at home, but realized he needed more kids around, so I’m starting a preschool,” she said with a laugh. “But seriously, I really enjoy teaching young children. They are funny, smart, sincere, and constantly in awe of things we adults take for granted.”

Also an accomplished pianist and piano teacher, Dain plans to make music and other performing and visual arts a critical part of her school curriculum. She will also draw from the Reggio Emilia approach, which allows each child to guide his or her own curriculum based on individual interests. Dain will be joined in this endeavor by her brother, Duddley Diaz, who will teach visual art. Duddley is a sculptor who lived and worked in Italy for 20 years. Dain has already launched a website for the school, www.mypiccolonido.com . Check it out! Congratulations, Dain!
