NCYL Seeks Juvenile Justice Attorney

The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) seeks an experienced attorney who has significant expertise in juvenile justice. The Center is currently working to reform the juvenile justice systems in several states, focusing on the over-incarceration of youth and the need for community-based alternatives to secure detention. NCYL is also working to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline in several states and opposing unduly harsh sentences for juveniles. The new attorney will have the opportunity to shape the juvenile justice agenda for the future. NCYL employs a variety of strategies in its juvenile justice work, including working collaboratively with local juvenile justice stakeholders.

Job Requirements:
The applicant must have a strong commitment to juvenile justice reform and be admitted to practice in at least one state. This is not an entry level position. Excellent writing and analytic skills and a willingness to travel are required. An ability to collaborate effectively with a wide array of stakeholders is also essential. Experience supervising other attorneys is helpful, as is experience in both policy advocacy and litigation.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is based on experience and is comparable to similar organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. NCYL provides health, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, good vacation benefits, and an employer contribution to a retirement plan.

NCYL Seeks Deferred Associates

NCYL is interested in reviewing applications from deferred associates from private firms. At least five national law firms have established programs for their associates to be paid by the firm while they serve at public interest organizations. NCYL has had four deferred associates in the past two years and continues to actively recruit such attorneys

NCYL has a very successful track record of obtaining fellowships for young attorneys and integrating them into the work of the Center. Chief Operating Officer National Health Law Program (NHeLP)

NHeLP is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its Washington, DC office. NHelP works to ensure access and quality health care for low-income people. The COO must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage organizational finances, and oversee risk management and human resources. The COO will be responsible for enhancing internal organizational process and infrastructure that will allow NHeLP to continue to grow and fulfill its mission.
